| ABSAROKA BEARTOOTH
WILDERNESS MONTANA • WYOMING |
The
943,377 acre Absaroka Beartooth is one of the most popular wilderness areas
in the United States. It takes its name from the convergence of two mountain
ranges - the rugged, forested aspects of the Absaroka Mountains and the
high elevation, lake-strewn Beartooth Mountains - and lures visitors with
a tremendous variety of recreational opportunities. The Beartooths are
home to Montana’s highest summit,
12,799 foot Granite Peak, and contain one of the largest contiguous
areas of peaks above 10,000 feet in the U.S.
This map includes the entire AB Wilderness from Livingston to Red Lodge, the northern section of Yellowstone National Park, the famous Beartooth Highway, and Paradise Valley. It combines and updates all or parts of 85 USGS 7.5 minute quads, and shows trail mileages.
